Feedback from Patrons 2005

Another great festival. All members of our family, from teenagers to "seniors" find something to enjoy from the enormous variety of music and entertainment offered. Having attended all but 2 festivals since 1983, I look forward to celebrating 30 yrs in 2006. Congratulations to the many hard workers who contributed to yet another successful festival.

This was my first festival, and certainly not my last, I have never felt such total delight of all the senses in all my 42 years on this planet, The music and all the theatrics have completely blown my mind and I loved the whole thing. Being a completely newbie to it all I was absolutely blown away by Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen I loved it all, it was so well run, so beautiful in all aspects. Thanks again for an eye opening and spiritual awakening experience. Love to all who worked so hard to make it work, if all the world went as well as this we would be living in paradise.

Congratulations on yet another wonderful, wonderful festival. Yet again we had so much fun, heard brilliant music, and met amazing inspiring people. Thankyou so much, PFFF makes my year.

Another fantastic festival. Well done again Port Fairy! I agree with all the praise for the artists, the organisers and all those who support the festival. I've heard heaps of thank yous - all well and truly deserved - but never for the guys that put up and pull down those amazing tents.... so thank you thank you thank you, what a job that must be!

I loved it, I loved it, I loved it. I'm another first timer and it was just brilliant - thank you so much to all those involved in organising such a mammoth event And... I'm another younger one, in my mid 20's - so we are there too :)

Congratulations and thanks for an amazing festival. Our first time after promising ourselves for years. We'll be back!

The fact remains that the PFFF is wonderful value; it is a showcase for great performances from fine artists, and change is inevitable in all things, and in the main the changes have increased the attraction to the whole family spectrum which is the way I am happy to see it continue. I very much like the idea of sharing with the three generations who seem to be attending the festival these days... the originals (often gray haired), their children and the grandchildren. Teenagers and younger seem to find enough to delight them there, and I’m all for keeping it that way…

Congratulations from a first timer we were so impressed with the weekend. The efficiency, the atmosphere, the quality of the performers it was all fantastic and must all be due to a band of dedicated workers and community spirit. We'll be back.

People who use the offensive term "folkie" or "THE Folkie" deserve to be detained in prisons for life where Barry Manilow, ABBA and Bucks Fizz are played day and night for eternity...

The feeling I get from around town is that 2005 was probably the best folkie yet.

Suffice to say that the committee, the innumerable volunteers, the stall holders and others did their jobs to a "t". The whole thing was very, very well run and of course we will be back. Thank you all very much for a wonderful smorgasbord of great World music!

Incredibly well run festival. A smorgasbord of brilliant, diverse talent, good food and fun. My 1st PFFF and I'm addicted.

This festival remains one of the very few genuine family affairs and events that one can attend, and the atmosphere is great simply because everyone is having a great time with music of many different types but loosely based around a people’s music, and embracing genuinely creative performers. The family atmosphere exerts a calming influence; the concern for the rights of others is apparent. I talked to no-one who was unhappy and I saw little sign of stress or disappointment. That is impressive.

The theme concerts are really an assist in that they showcase a wide variety of artists and that’s part of the discovery process.

My husband and I had a fabulous time again this year, we volunteered again and were exposed to a bit more country than we're used to, and enjoyed it so much we bought the CDs!

Highlights for us were Kim Barlow, John McCutcheon, Compton and Long, Janis Ian, Brian Kennedy.

I really enjoyed Bella. The comedy shows, the Waifs, Greg Champion, Bella, John McCutcheon are just a few that really shone this year!

Faves include Fiona Boyes (what a voice), the Prayer Babies (new to us but they blew us away) and Doch (loved that gypsy inspired stuff).

Loved most of the Canadians, particularly liked Jali Buba Kuyateh.

Loved "Dirty Lucy, Doch and the Waifs".

Durbeyfield were one of the best thing at the festival!

I especially liked Ash Grunwald, The Guild League, Scared Weird Little Guys and The Trojan Horns. As a younger festival goer (not fair off 18 y.o) I strongly encourage organisers to invite them all back next year!!!

Hirst & Green - great duo! Borderers were fantastic.

Loved Janis Ian, Michael Jerome Brown, Serena Ryder Brian Kennedy, And John McCutcheon as usual.

My favourites this year were Janis Ian, Kevin Welch (how about 3 years in a row? Please!!), Borderers and Ember Swift - what an act!

A great festival for the most part. Highlights were Brian Kennedy, Capercaillie, A Crowd of Bold Sharemen and my "discoveries", Kim Barlow and the wondrously-voiced James Keelaghan. Bring him back next year. I liked the Canadian component this year. Great to see so many of them on the program. It would be great to see some more of the Newfoundland bands like Celtic Connections, Shannyganook and in particular, Great Big Sea next year.

BRIAN KENNEDY, as well as being a superb artist, must be.....'the sexiest man alive'!

Favoutites were Brian Kennedy, Scared, Weird, Little Guys, Skirl and Capercaillie.

I loved the Scaredies, Greg Champion and the Trojan Horns gig on Sunday night was awesome!!

Ember Swift and her band are the most inspiring act since Bob Dylan and The Band.

I was very impressed with Ember Swift ability to bridge the generation gap. I feel that as the grey or balding people become majority it is important for groups like them to appear and entertain the poor kids who year after are forced to attend this festival until they have reached the age of being home alone and having wild parties whilst their old folks sing along to some song about high roads. Having acts like this might encourage the youth to maintain the concept of pff as we get closer to being wheeled in.

Sale of light beers. Good move!

The food vendors, and suppliers were high quality and the coffee was excellent.

Special kudos to those terrific people at the Lighthouse Cafe - great food at good prices.

Food was great.

Sound quality across all venues was excellent without exception. Well done to the mixers. Great and understated work.
