For What it’s Worth – The Power Of the Political Song

“There’s something happening here, what it is ain’t exactly clear….” From Buffalo Springfield in the 1960’s, to Robert Burns and Ye Jacobites of the 17th Century, songwriters and poets capture the political times, but do they affect change? In this current political climate, can we keep politics and human rights to the fore through the arts and music?

Question… Have the Arts taught us about the past?
If so what have we learnt? Are we we getting it right or wrong?
… Just food for thought… because something is definitely ‘happening here”… And in the great folk festival tradition… Discuss!
Paul Petran will lead the discussion with a great panel of artists including Eddi Reader, John Douglas, Rob Hirst, Brett Clarke, Cathy Guthrie, Amy Nelson and Mundy.
