Volunteer MC & Stage Managers

2020 Festival Applications open until 21 June 2019.

We are on the hunt for a crack team of volunteer MC and Stage Managers for both large and small stages. If you are over 18 years of age and have skills and experience in either area or are keen to learn, please read on.

  • Become the ‘Face of the Festival’ and make a difference to the festival experience for performers & audiences.

  • See what it is like behind the scenes at a major music and cultural event.
  • Receive a free adult festival pass in return for approximately 12 hours of rostered work over the festival weekend.

You are eligible to apply if:

  • You are aged 18 years at the time of the festival.
  • You are willing to work 3 – 4  shifts of between 2 and 6 hours each across the festival weekend.
  • You are able to, or have already organised your own accommodation.

Welcome and thanks for taking the time to apply. We need all our valued returning volunteers to update their contact details and availability over the festival weekend March 06 - 09 2020. Firstly, please read the volunteer code of conduct, MC and Stage Manager position descriptions above that outline the requirements of both roles. Thank you!

    Enter name of your emergency contact now if you can. Update us later if this is not possible, or if your contact changes. Please inform us of any health issues that may be relevant to assist us to roster you in a suitable position (eg bad back).
  • ROSTER SESSIONS

    Preference will be given to MC and SM volunteers who are available all weekend from Friday 4pm to Monday 1pm. Please indicate your availabilities across the weekend for every session that you’re available to do. We will only roster you for 3 – 4 shifts of between 2 and 6 hours long (up to 12 hours in total) according to your availability across the festival weekend. We want you to enjoy your Port Fairy Festival experience! Please note that we will make every effort to accommodate your preferences, however this is not always possible. The time periods below are indicative only.

  • ROSTER • POSITIONS • EXPERIENCE

  • Tell us if you have other stage skills.
  • Choose one preference
  • Tell us about any previous experience you have volunteering or working at other festivals, or any special skills you may have - eg Theatre Stage; PA Operation etc.
  • Wherever possible we would like you to work with acts whose performances you will enjoy. Please list your three favourite genres so we can program your shifts according to your preferences.
  • If you have worked at PFFF before, please state the last year(s) if possible.
  • Please select PFFF venues you have worked in (if applicable).
  • Is there someone you would like to work with or are not able to work with for some reason. (e.g. someone might have to mind the children!)

  • AGREE AND SUBMIT

  • As a volunteer for the Port Fairy Folk Festival, the following conditions apply:
    • Volunteers who have committed to volunteer hours will receive a weekend pass on registration.
    • No financial payment will be made by the PFFF for your volunteer services.
    • Volunteers must be over 18 years of age at the time of the festival.
    • Volunteers must be prepared to commit to at least 10 - 12 hours of work in exchange for a weekend pass.
    • We expect that you will complete the duty hours allocated to you. Anyone who fails to honour their volunteer commitments without a valid reason will have their pass revoked and any future applications will be turned down.
    • You must complete the tasks assigned to you as outlined by your Volunteer Manager or any other member of the PFFF staff or Committee.
    • Being under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances whilst on duty will not be tolerated at any time. Anyone found to be under the influence of either will have their pass revoked and any future applications will be turned down.
    • PFFF Public Liability Insurance will cover you only while you are assisting at the festival.
    • You must let us know of any medical condition which could affect your duties as allocated.
    • You will need your active mobile phone contact number at the festival in case we need to contact you urgently.
    • In addition to abiding by our Volunteer Code of Conduct you must adhere to the Ticket Terms and Conditions of Entry on our website www.portfairyfolkfestival.com
    • You agree to organise your own accommodation.
